CU were extremely helpful in helping me find the perfect scholarship. I had been looking for ages and many of the university websites are a little confusing and didn't contain the information I needed. As soon as I made contact with CU, they helped to clear up all the confusion, advised me on the best course of action, timings, costs and expected learning outcomes. In short, I couldn't have got on this programme without their help. I have loved it so far and would recommend the experience to anyone thinking about doing it.

Never in a million years would I imagine myself climbing the Great Wall, and in the middle of a beautiful night drinking red wine on top of it, while the moon and stars were shining on us. Beijing is a place where you can meet a lot of amazing people. CU staff is going to help you whenever you’re in trouble or just want a friend to talk to. They are reachable at all times, which is great - you can call them, text them, visit them in the office or just stalk them on Facebook! As for the studies at BLCU, I must say, the teachers are inspiring. And, even with a little effort, you will learn quite a lot. Shoe shopping in the middle on the night (on a street!) dancing like crazy and running away from potential boyfriends, being taught Chinese by the cute guys in the U-Center and actually finding some time to study ... It was definitely a fun summer!

CU is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. It is a place of intersection in your life where you come across different people and cultures. I can say this is like a BIG BANG. Nothing is like this if you haven't experienced studying in China!...

CU is an excellent program and I would highly recommend the program to anyone who wants to learn more Chinese and learn more about China. It was awesome living with a Chinese family and really getting to know the people and their culture. Their classes were intensive and engaging and had immediate practical application. My teachers were very enthusiastic and have great strategies for helping you to use the material. My tutor was well trained and will help you to learn more Chinese than you thought was possible. I learned so much about China and I have a completely new perspective from when I arrived. The excursions were perfect for learning about historical sites, culture, and the food. Even if you want to go exploring on your own the team knows all of the best places to visit. From camping on the Great wall, to bargaining in the Pearl Market, to foot massages, and the dinner table conversations I had with my host my trip to China was an experience that I will never forget.

My name is Evisa, I’m 21 and I’m a student of political science in University of Latvia. Currently I live in Riga, Latvia, but I have my big dreams about living in Beijing! :) For studying chinese, it was my second time in China and I chose CU – I have to say – it was one of my best decisions because CU staff is always happy to help you, spend time with you or just be your friend. They are always happy to see you at the lunch or their office! With CU you will never feel alone or lost in China, they will always take care of you and be just one call away from you, even if you have some silly questions – just text them! As for studies in BLCU – yes, sometimes teachers are very strict, but trust me – at the end of course – you feel amazing cause you can speak in Chinese! Isn’t that a wonderful feeling? Yes I know it is. :) I love Beijing for a lot of reasons, maybe because it is the place where you can meet a lot of amazing people every day (!) and make a new friends, maybe because you can enjoy impressive culture at the day time and crazy night life at the night time, maybe just because you’ll never know what will happen tomorrow, you just feel and enjoy the moment, I’m always very, very happy to return there!

My name is Anchal K. and I am 17 years old. I live in New Jersey, and i am currently a High School Senior. I live with my mom and dad, and I have a sister who is 18 and will be attending college in the fall. I first started learning Chinese in fourth grade, because my sister was taking French, and I wanted to be different. Not many people took Chinese, so I had a very small class. Ever since then I have alternated with learning the language and learning about the culture. When I first got to China I was terrified. I definitely missed my parents, and I was afraid that I wouldn’t make friends. The first time I realized how much CU cared for me was the second day of me being in China. David had actually asked two girls to meet up with me for lunch and make me feel comfortable. Knowing that CU really cared about me meant a lot, and one of the girls I met that day even became one of my best friends! After that day, I had the best experience of my lifetime. I made so many diverse friends, and Jules, Sophia, and David made me feel as if I was part of their Family! The weekend trips were the best things that I got to do in china, and I can’t wait to go back to china next year and visit everyone in CU!

Amazing agency staffed by some genuinely great, professional people. Truly believe that booking my 3 month mandarin course through them has made my experience far more rewarding and fruitful. They arranged all my logistics and helped me settle in right from the moment I set foot off the plane. Introduced me to other students which meant I had friends before class had even begun. Always available 24/7 to help with any query, large or small. They consistently went above and beyond to help my 3 months become on of the most enjoyable and wonderful time I have had. Thank you Dave, Jules and Sophia!

From the moment I arrived in Beijing I was greeted with friendly staff from the CU office (even though it was 2am!) and was taken to my dormitory and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay. I always had someone to call if needed as CU provided me with a phone and contact numbers for any eventuality. I enjoyed studying at the university and loved the atmosphere with other CU colleagues while exploring Beijing and the nightlife. I look forward to coming back in a year with CU for more learning and adventures.

The great thing about CU is that they really make you feel like you have come to your second home. While I was in Beijing for two months, I made some of the greatest friends through the program, and had the opportunity to really spend some time getting to know the city during the planned field trips. I felt safe to explore and try new things, because CU provided a safety net that I knew I could count on.
